Acapulco, a beach resort town on Mexico's Pacific coast, is set on a large bay backed by high-rises and the Sierra Madre del Sur mountains. Made famous by the jet-set in the 1950s and '60s, it's known for its high-energy nightlife, beaches, and golf. From its iconic La Quebrada cliff, professional divers plunge 40m into a small ocean cove every day and night.
Historically, Acapulco served as a naval launching point for Spain. It was a launching point for Hernan Cortes. He was able to rebuild his fleet here, and go on to sail north and discover much more of the Western cost of Mexico, and even up some of the Colorado River.
Acapulco is relatively close to Mexico city, a mere three and a half hours’ drive. This means that Acapulco is a choice destination for not only tourists, but for much of the local Mexican population as well.
The city is situated in a natural bay, which makes it an ideal location for a whole variety of water sports and aquatic activities. Scuba diving, water skiing, and sport fishing are all incredibly popular in the region. Cliff diving, bay cruises, and snorkeling are also great activities to take part in due to Acapulco's great location.
Acapulco remains one of Mexico's most dramatic coastal settings, and experiencing it from the water on a private yacht is something every visitor should put on their list. The bay wraps around the city in a wide arc, giving charter guests sweeping views of the hillside mansions, the crowded Costera Avenida, and the rugged cliffs where Acapulco's famous cliff divers have performed for generations.
Day Yacht Charters operates luxury yachts out of Marina Acapulco, the main marina facility located at the western end of the bay. From there, a typical charter heads across the bay to La Roqueta Island, a protected area with calm water ideal for snorkeling and swimming. The island's clear shallow zones are popular with families and first-time snorkelers.
The best months to charter in Acapulco run from November through April when the Pacific swell settles, humidity drops, and skies stay consistently clear. The rainy season from June through September brings afternoon showers but the mornings are often perfectly calm for a half-day trip.
Our yachts range from sporty open boats perfect for a group of eight to larger cruisers that comfortably host private events with music, food, and full bar service. Sunset charters departing around 5 PM are especially popular, as the light over the bay turns golden and the city's hillside lights begin to flicker on.
Whether you want a full day of cruising or a focused three-hour sunset experience, our Acapulco fleet is available for custom bookings. Call +1 (305) 515-4735 to check current availability and lock in your date.
