Snorkeling is one of the most popular past-times of visitors to the Turks and Caicos Islands thanks to the Turks and Caicos Barrier Reef. These beautiful and vibrant reef formations and relatively calm waters provide snorkelers an amazing site to see.
Turks and Caicos Barrier Reef is the third largest barrier reef in the world and shields Grace Bay Beach from large waves- keeping the waters calm and crystal clear. The reef is home to many colorful and interesting sea creatures, such as turtles, stingrays, and various tropical fish. Seasoned and new snorkelers are bound to be delight by the many exotic reefs and sea life.

Smith's Reef

Smith's Reef comprises of multiple reef systems and is located off the Providenciales and is definitely a prime spot to take in a snorkeling session. Here one can see various tropical marine creatures in their natural habitat.

Snorkeling at Smitch Reef Providenciales

An assortment of hard and soft corals can be found at Smith's Reef and if you look carefully, you may be able to see a spiny lobster or a moray eel hiding out under the ledges. Underwater placards are also present at various locations to help you identify special points of interest.

Malcolm's Road Beach
Malcolm's Road Beach is located at Northwest Point Marine National Park. It is a isolated patch and very distinctive as it is close to the drop-off at the edge of the Caicos Islands plateau (also known as the “wall” to locals).
Those who are more seasoned in the art of snorkeling would be better suited to visit this area as the water is not to deep but after one ventures past the “wall” it can dip to 7,000 ft.
Snorkelers who do venture to Malcolm’s Road Beach will not be disappointed as it too boasts a variety of tropical fish and sea creatures.
